Actually, that would be some instances of Vista, apparently, as my < and > keys work just fine... though my = (options) button doesn't, in game. So it might be something particular to your version (or particular instance of, I guess) Vista... or perhaps Vista just disables a few incursion keys depending on the user, just for spite. Wouldn't put it past the OS.

On the flip side, if you (or anyone, really) figure out a fix, that'd be wonderful. I'd really like to be able to adjust some options fairly regularly... and you being able to use stairs would be nice, too.

I see this kind of problems with a lot of roguelikes. Apparently a lot of games disagree with the keyboard about which key does what when using a keyboard designed for languages that have a larger alphabet than english. I have to reconfigure some of the keybindings in Dwarf Fortress, for example, because the game thinks the '>', '<' and '?' keys on my keyboard are actually some other unrelated keys. This only applies to a few specific keys so it isn't an issue with most software, but roguelikes often make use of the problem keys.

Has anyone tried AutoHotKey to get around the problem?

I think an intuitive all-round solution would be to allow the player to define his keybindings in the options menu. As in "What key do you want to use for 'up'?" - <key press> - etc.

This as opposed to having to deal with every possible hardware / keybinding combination.

Right now I have to run Incursion with a US English language setting which doesn't correspond to my keyboard, so it's not ideal.

Perhaps related is bug #1785, which I just submitted, about my inability to rest while trying to play Incursion for the first time via the Dvorak layout I normally use in Windows.

This one seems more important than that one is (since, somewhat like Bob, I just switched layouts once I'd figured out the problem), but maybe a fix to one would fix the other.

All my buttons work fine; do you use a dvorak or azerty keyboard?
